How Much Do Professional Organizers Charge?

Have you been curious about what it costs to hire a professional organizer – or what you could earn if you decided to take the jump and train to become one

When it comes to professional organizing, rates admittedly vary widely. Rather than ballpark estimates, we decided to poll our Konmari Consultant community to find out what actual professionals charge, from brand new business owners to master organizers who have had thriving businesses for many years.

The answers, from more than 30 certified Konmari Consultants across the world, reveal not just the numbers but the mindset behind them.

What Professional Organizers Can Earn: The Short Answer

Of our survey participants, 87% said that they charged between $50-$100 USD/hour* when they first started out, with rates increasing as experience, reputation, and client demand grew.

Among the KonMari Consultants we surveyed, the median hourly rate is $82 USD (much higher than the industry average, according to Indeed, and likely the result of the expertise KonMari Method-trained and certified organizers bring), with some offering three-hour sessions for $250–$500 or package-based pricing for multi-day projects.

*Editor’s note: Because the surveyed organizers work in countries around the world, we converted all rates and pricing details to USD for consistency.

“I started out at $50/hr, which other organizers told me was too low! Many of us leverage the KonMari Consultant online community to gut-check business ideas, like whether it’s time to raise our rates.”

Many said they set their rates based on a few considerations:

  • Insights from the small business and pricing workshops included in the KonMari Consultant Program training.
  • The average rate of other professional organizers in their area. (For more insights, see our section below, How Do Professional Organizers Decide What to Charge?)
  • They also supported each other in their pricing journey to ensure they didn’t prices themselves too low. “I started out at $50/hr, which other organizers told me was too low!” says one participant. “Many of us leverage the KonMari Consultant online community to gut-check business ideas, like whether it’s time to raise our rates.”

About 60% of KonMari Consultants run their business full-time, and more than 60% of those surveyed have been running their businesses for over 5 years. This nods to both the sustainability of the profession and the still-growing demand for certified professional organizers with proper training and expertise

Every market and business is different, but our Consultants agree that professional organizing is both fulfilling and financially viable, especially for those who build strong client relationships and clear systems (for more on that, read our article on what professional organizers actually do (also based on our survey of real businesses).

What Affects How Professional Organizers Price Their Services?

Here are the most common factors our professional organizers use to determine what they should charge:

  • Scope: Entire home vs. a single project (like a closet or office)
  • The client relationship: One-time decluttering vs. ongoing sessions
  • Specialty: Digital organization, downsizing, or other high-touch services
  • Location: Regional demand and cost of living
  • Experience: Time in business, reputation, and client outcomes

Many of our organizers also say that they consider the emotional and transformational value of their work, i.e., the sense of peace, confidence, and clarity they help clients reclaim.

As one certified KonMari Consultant puts it, “I determined my rates by looking at the value and transformation my clients receive, the time and energy I invest in each session, and what’s sustainable for me as a business.”

How Do Professional Organizers Decide What to Charge?

For most, pricing is a balance of research, intuition, and self-respect. Some organizers benchmark against peers; others work backwards from their ideal income goals and business costs (and many do both).

A majority of the Consultants we surveyed mentioned that they also benefited from the business kickstarter workshops built directly into the KonMari Consultant training.

“I used insights from Helen Youn’s workshop [our most popular business planning workshop, led by a Master Consultant who also teaches our trainings], calculated my outgoing costs, and asked local organizers what they charged when I invited them to meet over coffee,” says one Consultant who has since gone into working full-time as a professional organizer.

Over time, many organizers raise rates as they grow in confidence and refine their service model. Pricing naturally evolves – just like the business itself.

Many also find new services to offer as they get comfortable, creating multiple revenue streams.
